We are delighted to announce two new additions to the Gallagher Bassett risk control team.

Ashley Easen has joined to take on the role of Director of Risk Control. Colette Dark is not leaving Gallagher Bassett but in December will be taking on a new role concerned with product and market development and risk and resilience within the business.

Alan Thompson started with Gallagher Bassett earlier this month and is already providing some excellent support to Stuart Gemmell in the development and delivery of our motor risk management services.

As you will see from the biographies below these are two outstanding appointments to the team and we are sure you will be hearing more from them over the coming months.

Ashley Easen – Director of Risk Control

Ashley has joined Gallagher Bassett as Director of Risk Control this week. She started her career as a Risk Control Consultant with Gallagher Bassett 16 years ago after leaving Glasgow Caledonian University with a degree in Risk Management. Since then she has held a number of roles in the public sector and before joining us was Head of Organisational Risk with Essex County Council for the last 4 years. At Essex she led a team of 30 people delivering the Council’s Health and Safety service, Business Continuity, Strategic Risk Management and Insurance and internal claims handling service. During her time there she was an active contributor of the organisational redesign to develop the authority into a commissioning led, outcomes focussed organisation and embedded a robust risk management regime at Board and Councillor level.

Ashley has also worked for the London Borough of Newham in a number of roles, including Head of Risk and Insurance. In that role she was responsible for the design and implementation of a business continuity strategy during the 2012 Olympics working closely with the Olympic Delivery Authority and Police. As Risk Manager for the Independent Police Complaints Commission during the time of the Jean Charles De Menezes investigation her role widened to include security and safety responsibilities of all staff in the business.

With her predominantly public sector background, Ashley will bring real insight into what the client is seeking from its TPA and has a strong understanding of the current local authority landscape, direction of travel and financial pressures. Throughout her career, Ashley has broadened her skill set and broken the ‘conventions’ of local authority business by generating income from her team for Essex County Council and establishing her own in house claims handling team.

Alan Thompson – Risk Control Consultant (Motor)

Having 30 years policing experience including Training, Crime and Roads Policing disciplines at core and management levels, Alan has operated nationally and internationally across Europe, the Middle East and the USA working with enforcement and Government Agencies.

He has extensive experience in the investigation and management of road death incidents and the investigation of companies pre and post the current corporate manslaughter legislation. He has worked with the HSE and companies to advise and support them through implementation of new procedures to meet the demands of current legislation and support and develop their workforces.

On retiring as an active police officer he was asked to remain within the Police to support and develop staff within the Leaning and Development team with a focus on performance delivery and improving skill sets and service delivery.

He has a Law Degree, Post graduate Diploma in Legal Practice and has successfully completed the Cranfield University MSc in Driver Behaviour. He also has training and IOSH qualifications, is a qualified Drugs Recognition expert and Police accredited Field Impairment Trainer.
